All the problems and unintended consequences of this were all foretold by those of us who were against it.

Fox Business, had they BEEN in business in 1938, would have claimed the imminent ruin of the economy when FDR signed the first minimum wage into law. It was $.25/hour.

They would have been correct then too. The main casualty of these laws being the prohibition of apprenticeship for young people in America. Many many people achieved middle class social parity by being apprentice to a master artisan or craftsman. This is long gone now.

Word. Those newbie waiters and bartenders should be working for FREE. Learning the ropes is the only payment they need. Sweat, bleed, and live on the straw mat outside provided by the establishment owner. Only once they've achieved master certification flipping burgers should they be paid whatever compensation the owner deems fit. The destruction of this time honored tradition is the destruction of Murica.

You have man that process leather and he sells it to the man who makes shoes . the man who makes leather buys the shoes .but. the man who makes leather demands more money for his leather, in turn the man making shoes must charge more, OR go to some one else or go with a different material cheaper than leather . the more one must charge does not help the ones that can barely afford it to begin with .
I have seen a lot of stores close due to the minimum wage and Obama care . How does that help the poor ?

prohibition of apprenticeship for young people in America. mod cut - only mods allowed to use red font

Now it's called INTERNSHIPS.

So, now if waiters and waitresses and bartenders are paid $15/hr., should we stop tipping them?

Hey Pope and Huskies: may you both soon get to earn $14 an hour and see how well you do.

Oh Arleigh, making believe you know how the economy works is very amusing.

I am surprised no mean spirited neo-Nazi on this board hasn't yet called for EATING the poor.
