well according to wikipedia (since its the definition you chose to post the link), whether or not you are a minority can be based on several criteria, so which characteristic are you choosing for the basis of your argument?
I am a hispanic. Hey even whites in NYC are now a minority. All I am saying is that NYC is full of them and not one group seem to be the majority.
Not to cause a debate, but how are whites a minority in NYC and where is this info from? Recent census info had whites at over 40%, while hispanic and blacks were under 30%. This is from the official US Census Bureau. This may have been solely Manhattan, but I found another site that had it listed by each borough and the only one where whites weren't a majority was the Bronx.

Because there are more non-White people here than Whites. It doesn't really make sense to put all non-White people under the umbrella term minority anymore. At least in NYC it doesn't really make sense anymore. But hey there are those that like using it because it's a convenient way to group people and because they can use the argument that those groups still fall under the minority category for other reasons.
Its not debatable so don't worry..the White population is about 40%, Black about 25%, and Hispanic about 30%..these are rough percentages...but as a result whites are the minority in NYC if you add people of color vs white. I think you were reading the stats as including Hispanics as white, which, depending on the survey, may count them as white.
Look at the US Census data...whatever source you are using is wrong.
