That duck is awesome, a natural work of art. Never seen anything like it before. Pretty sure somebody smuggled it into the country as a pet or resale commodity then got nervous and dumped it in the park
Yep! I thought the exact same thing. Someone smuggled it in and then it either escaped or they got spooked and dumped him/her there. Glad the other ducks seem to be friendly & accepting about it.
Urgh. That is worse than well done beef. Medium rare for me.
Anyway, It is not unlikely that there is a population of Mandarin ducks on some upstate estate's pond, and this guy "flew the coop". These ducks are widely exported as ornamental semi-wild landscape animals, much like peacocks.
Oh dear........................the eco system is off kilter.
