Seriously though, how does Westchester get all up in an Amazon thread? It's the last place in the metro area someone would move to if they got a job in Queens.
Probably because of the Penn Station Access plan. Long Island City is at the western tip of Queens and Queens is the largest borough. The closest part of Nassau County is just a tiny bit closer than the closest part of Westchester.
Ultimately the South and West Wards of Newark killed that
I really gotta take a ride out there one day to see how bad it really is.
I've been to EO and Irvington but never Newark.
EO and Irvington are prolly 2 of the worst places I've ever been in my life.
I'd give Harvey, IL as the worst place I've been in my life; thankfully Gary, IN I've only driven through.
Having taken buses through the rough parts of Newark, I'd say it's no cakewalk. I only have done it during the day though. I don't even trust Newark Penn Station at night and force my friends to drop me off at Harrison or Journal Square.
I have a firm belief that New Jersey can't run cities even if their state depended on it.
The REAL Amazon HQ is in Ireland where Bezos keep all of his money away from taxing authorities in the US and EU. All they do at Amazon Ireland is manage Amazon's income and expenses, they don't do any programming or business.
This is entirely false. They want to be here, the establishment here wants them here. No one cares what the NIMBYs and complainers want.
If both Cuomo and Bla are pushing this, it's going to happen at the political level. And the deal makes it a no brainer for Amazon.
