It's very simple. You want the Tunnel Cuomo has to break Schumer's arm to agree to FULL wall funding. $5 billion is a pittance. Trump wants $25 billion. The realities are that the wall can be built for around $15 billion. If Trump can get say $10 to $15 billion combine that with what he has already set aside the wall will get done. It may take a couple of years longer to build but it will be done before the end of his second term and NY/NJ get the Gateway project going. That project has to be done.

Agreed. But how many licks will it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop Mr.Owl?

DT isn't going to do anything that remotely benefits NY, NJ, Conn, or even MA because a vast majority of voters don't like him.
Yes, His Orangeness could do the right thing and push for infrastructure funding for Amtrak/NEC rail, but even if he does it won't win over people that will vote for him (or likely GOP in general), so that is that.
Best hope for the Mouth Of Albany and that some kind of piece of governor of NJ is that democrats now control the House and thus the nation's purse strings. Thus whatever "aid" that will come for Gateway or whatever likely will be in same forms as now; persons in Congress who have forgotten more about how things work than DT (and by extension many of those in his administration) ever knew, to wit the budget process.
Being as all this may critics do have certain points; New York and New Jersey are cesspools of waste and mismanagement when it comes to government spending. Add a healthy dose of union influence and you have projects that cost many multiples more than they should and or would anywhere else in USA or world for that matter.
That rat's nest/heck hole known as "East Side Access" is prime example.

Agreed. The house of reps are the whining tenants.
The Senate are the Grinch Landlords that keep them in check.
