I had been using a personal trainer at Crunch but they informed me that the $70 per session was an introductory offer and that I would be charged $139 per hour if I renewed my contract. I chose not to sign up for more sessions. Would anybody have a recommendation for a personal trainer not far from Gramercy\Kips Bay that they liked and was not as expensive?

read about fitness and do it yourself.

I have been working out since Oct 2002. I recommend Human Kinetics a fitness/health book publisher.

New York Sports Club on E. 23rd betw Park and Lexington is having a sale right now. Don't know how good it is (it's undergone renovations). For price, it probably can't be beat. There's a nice Equinox on Park and 24th with excellent trainers, but if you don't like the price at Crunch, you probably won't like Equinox, although once you're a member (and they have sales at times) the training sessions aren't too outrageous in price.

I'm a member of NYSC and can tell you that personal trainers are a separate purchase.

I know they're a separate purchase, but the membership is much lower than, say, at Equinox, the other option in the neighborhood, especially if there's sale, which there is now.
