I'm trying to get my mom an appointment with an endocrinologist on the west side and have been referred to mt sinai doctors on west 57th st
anyone have experience with them?

Sloan Kettering yes, is a top cancer hospital in NYC an indeed nation/world. But they are also a research oriented hospital, so not everyone with that disease is admitted/treated.
Like MD Anderson in Texas or Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, vast majority of patients at MSK are referrals from all over USA and world.
New York Presbyterian, NYU, Mount Sinai, and other NYC hospitals all treat cancer (adult and or pediatric), which is where a majority of New Yorkers go for treatment.
Sloan Kettering yes, is a top cancer hospital in NYC an indeed nation/world. But they are also a research oriented hospital, so not everyone with that disease is admitted/treated.
Like MD Anderson in Texas or Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, vast majority of patients at MSK are referrals from all over USA and world.

All this being said as one stated previously don't think you can simply waltz into MD Andersen, Sloan-Kettering or a few of the other top cancer hospitals and they will take your case. It doesn't work that way, and unless you are royalty, exceedingly wealthy, famous or some such chances are unless your case meets certain criteria you likely won't be admitted.
