When first moved to Manhattan it varied between 11AM to maybe between 1PM and 3PM.
Fast forward to past couple of years and certainly recently it's after 4PM including 6PM and on some days late as seven.
Many times come home, check mailbox and find nothing so assume that was that. Only to go back out an hour or so later to find USPS making mail delivery.
No, this isn't just because of the holidays either; happens all year round.
Guess it is a good thing many seniors and others who get checks each month now have direct deposit. But still if anything is coming in mail that wants acting on within same business day you're out of luck. Banks and nearly everything else will be closed.
Mine is usually here at 5:30-6. But lately its been as late as 7-9.
Nine PM? Are you kidding me? At that point why bother! *LOL*
If am being honest we've had a few "late" deliveries like that in recent memory.
One night was going out for dinner and was amazed to see USPS making mail delivery at what must have been near or after 8PM.
Saturday mail is all over the place as well. Used to arrive before 1PM which makes sense since the post office closes early. No more it does; four, five, six or even later is normal on weekends.

Same here, our mailman comes after 5 apparently leaves after after 8 sometimes there up until 10/11 at night.
Everything is online now but if I'm looking for something specific, I check my mail on the way to work. It used to annoy me but I've learned to manage my expectations and now my attitude is whatever.
Had a mailman for about ten years who routinely delivered mail anywhere from 2pm to 8pm. In later years it was much closer to 8pm. The guy used to go in people's houses to socialize or whatever (I wouldn't be surprised if had some girlfriends on the route). I would see him sometimes on my block and a half hour later he still hadn't delivered and then I saw him leaving a house. When USPS finally put a new mailman on the route it's been delivered by noon most days.
My parents get their mail by noon most of the time. I recall when we (back when I lived in Brooklyn) were getting mail as late as 6pm. I guess enough people complained and things have never been that bad again.
I just text my friend last week when I was on my way out at about 930PM, saying "wow the mail lady just got here".
My building varies any time from 3pm and I guess as late as 930pm. Some days they skip my building too. The mail lady told me the door often jams and she can't get in so if there is no one there to let her in, they just skip it. Good old government jobs....
When I was a kid, early afternoon. Now they get it dinner time or later.
My building? Always after 5 PM. I do see people delivering mail in the mornings just never near me.
