A sole proprietor of 70 stores, with no type of large-scale corporate structure or plan, after death?

Looks like when family said "sole proprietor" they meant the late Mr. Padron ran the show. Petland Discounts was incorporated (Petland Discounts, Inc.) but beyond the president there does not seem to be any other corporate officers. https://www.bloomberg.com/research/s...vcapId=4283020

From what other limited information is out there it seems as if the family is closing the stores due to financials (again see above about competition from internet), but may not dissolve company entirely. That could leave things open for someone else to step in and buy if the thing was put up for sale.

I have a dog and cat and Pet Co, and Pet smart are better. Pet Land is ok but some of the competitors and the internet like Chewy offer more sales and convenience.

Target customer for websites like Chewy are not 25 year old social media influencers living in a railroad apartment in Bed-sty. The Chewy customer is a 45 year old bank executive who lives in her Park Slope townhouse with husband, 2 kids, and 3 dogs.

Yeah, since all internet shopping is done by millennials. LOL

This company didn't adapt to the change in business. You have to be ahead of the tide or you will be swept by it.

The boomers kept the mom and pop shops in business.
The millennial chose shopping online over crossing the street .
Gen Z will run the online businesses out out business.
Generation alpha will cross the street to mom and pop shop for that buttered bagel.
Rinse and repeat.
