The homeless on the UWS do not own anything let alone any UWS real estate. The two groups barely co-exhist.
Yeah right. That's why they hassle people on Amsterdam and Columbus going into Joe Coffee and other establishments. I've had it happen on several occasions and I was NOT pleased. This was in the 80s by the way below 86th street. The homeless shelters are generally further up on the UWS. Let's just say I prefer the UES for that reason. I know people that live between Amsterdam and Columbus paying a high price for rent (north of 5K a month). I don't want to pay that kind of rent to then walk outside and deal with crazies up and down Amsterdam or Columbus. They also have had tons of problems with people coming into the lobby area and stealing packages. They have security cameras everywhere and can see who is coming in or out so that they don't have to buzz them in but it doesn't matter. The big glass door of the lobby shows you all of the packages in the lobby area... Very nice...

Yeah. I know people who bought in Tribeca only to have to move out later because they were close enough to the clubs that their sleep was disturbed at a nightly basis every 4 AM. You don't want to be anywhere near a club around that time unless...you're clubbing. lol.

Yeah but the UES has a lot of dog poop and one or two crazy homeless women terrorizing the area. And don't you have the projects up there. I know 86th and Lex can get a bit crazy or at least look kind of dumpy. All of Manhattan is basically the same give and take here and there. The ultra rich mingling with the very poor and the in betweens. Everywhere. One thing about Manhattan, you better like people. They'll be a lot of them in all shapes & sizes.

Well, yeah - that pretty much sums up every large city. Actually, it sums up life.

Pierre you are being insensitive. Do you rent for $5K or aren't you in some rent controlled thing that was passed down to you for free from family and you work some cushy office job and hang out at Le Pain hours on end? Please. Deal with it dude. The UWS used to be exceptionally more dangerous than it is today.

Anyways the OP is only looking for a party and to say he once lived in gritty NYC. He can safely order his caviar and Grey Poupon from the privacy of his iMac Pro using his Amazon account from his nice safe $5000K per month pad on the UWS. And be all bored. Ride around to clubs in his Tesla. Eating bon bons.

There aren't any clubs in Tribeca. This area is pin drop quiet at night. I honestly wouldn't recommend it to a single person who enjoys going out any more than I would suggest they move to the UWS. Village, Noho, Flatiron are the spots for people with money and without kids.

Rep'd. True story. The UWS is residential. Think The Dakota. Think Central Park.

People at this forum slam Manhattan on a constant basis. Another true story.

Rent controlled thing?? LMAO Nope... Not sure where you got that from... I will be BUYING in the near future once I find something I like. For now I pay market rent and always have, even when I lived in Europe, but you can keep trying with that line if it makes you feel better.

It could've been the meatpacking district they bought in. It was somewhere downtown near the clubs that's all I remember. The point is, you don't want to be anywhere near clubs unless you're a clubber.

Don't you live in Manhattan? How can you be so unaware of what is where in the City? The projects for the most part are above 96th street. There are some in Yorkville way over by 1st Avenue (out of sight out of mind). The rest of them are in East Harlem.
