It’s shaping up to look like he was fired. He was on air for 30 years, suddenly he was gone. They now have Amy Freeze, Lee Goldberg, and Jeff Smith doing double duty.
Why? Anyone got deets?

Used to drive me crazy years ago when he'd be giving the NYC morning weather report and would be talking about the weather in Kentucky. He really stretched out that report, like he was being paid by the minute.

lmao maybe KY has some sort of sentimental value. that man gave me many-a laugh in the morning. I am groggy and not a morning person at all. Love seeing the sun rise tho. But don’t talk to me lol

No firing or other adverse employment action seems involved. Mr. Bill Evans just seems to have wanted a career change and is going to join is wife in a "family" business so to speak.

Can't say I blame him; to be on the air at 4:30AM means arriving at least by 3:30AM (if not earlier) for make-up, preparation and so forth. That is an awful time to be commuting in from way out in Long Island.

In fact more than a handful of NYC network news personalities live in the more wealthy suburbs of LI, CT, Westchester and NJ. Thus they must commute in at odd hours depending upon their schedule. That gets old fast.

Personally prefer Mike Woods, but Bill Evans was ok.
