It's right on the border of being not so nice. But you've got a steal. Generally there are a lot of house staff from Mount Sinai in the neighborhood, but, as usual in NYC, be careful. Have you even SEEN this apartment?? You might want to see before signing.
Nice area and there is a lot of shopping as you go south of there. You're right near the train (local) and not far from Central Park and the East River in either direction. There are also a lot of luxury condos and rentals nearby. Just further north of that, things do change but it's a few blocks north of that. NYC is like that in a lot of ways though. A block by block kind of situation, that is, unless you live on Park Avenue.
You are on the border. On the east side 96 st and south is the very very nice UES. You are in spanish harlem, but just barely. Hell, I'd live there. I would not go north after dark to go sight seeing very often but at that price you got to jump on it. In the day time its not so bad and you can get some top notch food on the cheap up there.
I'm going to need to get high speed internet. What kind of providers do cable (or possibly fibre?) in Manhattan?
I'm looking for best prices vs. most uptime vs. fastest speeds.
Perhaps this is stickied somewhere. In which case, just ignore me.
