To be fair modernist architecture was big in 1960's through 1970's; there are examples of it all over NYC such as the campus of FIT in Chelsea. Also those big neo gothic or whatever churches cost plenty to build and take ages.

In any event there are about twenty deconsecrated RC churches the archdioses likely will be shopping around if they haven't already. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/07/n...-for-sale.html

Saint Vincent de Paul in Chelsea has already been sold.

I hate modernism. I hate what they did to penn station

This is not an isolated incidents exclusive to RCC. All the other religions do way worse than this. All boils down to not trusting adults with kids, or a man with your wife.

How many religious organizations are involved in sex trafficking, murders, corruption? Let's open the floodgates a shake em all down.

For coumo and friends to attack a religion close to home is so hypocritical. And the reason RCC will fall and be flipped.

Hey, get top dollar if you have to, always get ahead RCC. Cant blame the whole bunch over a few rotten apples.
The Catholic church has committed crimes against humanities like no other religion. Genocide of Jews, Native Americans, and Muslims. Forced conversions. Enslavement of Africans. All of this was the church's doing. The church supported dictators like Franco, Hitler, Salazar, etc.

The church is run by old men who are supposedly celibate, yet they rape people (children and sometimes nuns). The church might get better if they ended the celibacy of priests and let these fools go out and get some. That will get it out of their systems. Consensual sex with adults is better than raping minors, or adults in some cases. Or let the priests do what they really want to do, each other.

From some of these posts, I do not think everyone is referring to Social Justice Warrior when they type SJW.

Anyway, back to selling off RCC's. The Catholic Church is contracting because people, for whatever reason, have given up on it in large numbers. If it weren't for the steady influx of Hispanic immigrants (Catholic, natch) many more churches would be boarded up and sold. Americans, by and large, are getting tired of superstitious nonsense, bans on divorce and birth control and abortion. Of course, sexual abuse of children did the church no favors either.
Empty churches with empty collection baskets are too expensive to maintain.

IMO, all religious institutions should be paying tax, if only nominal.
President Garfield neatly summed up my feelings on the matter:

“The divorce between Church and State ought to be absolute. It ought to be so absolute that no Church property anywhere, in any state or in the nation, should be exempt from equal taxation; for if you exempt the property of any church organization, to that extent you impose a tax upon the whole community.”

Aha, now I guess we know why Garfield was assassinated.

And ther3e is another good reason to keep Catholics off the Supreme Court.
