I'm gonna start carrying around a tip jar too

Unfortunately, this is what we have had to do. From going out to eat 1-2 a week, at actual restaurants (we're not much into take-out), to once every other week. So 8 times per month on average down to 2. It's just too expensive. Service in a lot of places, even really good restaurants, sucks now but they still expect 20% tip.

I don't knee-jerk tip 20%. It's a tip intended to reward good service, not part of the bill.

I'm serious... There isn't a place that I don't go to that doesn't have one, and while they may not say anything, all of the body language is there saying "you had better give me a tip" even for counter service.

seriously, I was just thinking the same thing. Sh*t, how about I just say I'm a walking charity. In all seriousness the tip jar is a bit nuts.

Yeah, they'll get over it, lol. I have lots of tip I can give.

I like to leave my tip as a bible verse written on the check. The reward provided in heaven for the faithful will outweigh any meager financial gain received in this miserable world. Praise be his noodle appendages the FSM.

No but we can stop patronizing the places which is what I've done. The prices have gone up and tips are still expected which means I'm done eating out. My seamless activity is zero as of this year. Once every 3 weeks compared to twice a week last year.

Only the strong will survive.
