The student loan crisis means that many young graduates have very little margin for error financially. Taking a risk like opening a business that fails could be catastrophic.
The white people whose kids have fewer worries didn't get that money from opening a small business, unfortunately.

It's even more catastrophic in my opinion to work a dead end 9-5. There are huge risks in business, but if successful, huge rewards, as well.
Let's be real, if she didn't take the risk of starting her own business, there would be no luxury apartment in the heart of NYC and no high six figure profits.
I do realize that not everyone is cut out for business. The people who don't have an established network to help them secure a lucrative paying job, will be left out in the cold.
We live in a capitalist society, not everyone is going to win. In such a society, it's better to try, than to do nothing, but complain. The time spent complaining, could be better spent creating a new life.
This is not necessarily on topic, but the following video features actress Kerry Washington's NYC apartment.
I think it's imperative that more young black American women in particular, aim high and use aspirational images, like the following video, to dream big:
There's always the one in a million success story, or the 1 in 100,000 or the one in 10,000. But there is also the 9999, 99999, or 999999 left behind. And success is often fleeting, here today, gone tomorrow. Lets see how Jayla does at 60.

But isn't that true for everyone? Your career as it is now, may not look the same as you age. I imagine however that successful entrepreneurs (especially the young ones) realize this, and save for a rainy day.
Perhaps she will be able to retire long before 60.. Stranger things have happened.
Of course Lisa Lisa idolizes this woman. She's all about the material things that's why she was looking for a place to find rich men last year on this forum. Life is more than riches and material things.

Everything that I have, I've worked for it independently, though I can't say I'd mind finding a rich man.
And, I wouldn't say that I idolize anyone, but I will say that I love success and I like to focus my attention on positivity. I'm all about living my best life and naturally, I enjoy seeing other people do the same. I don't derive any satisfaction from poverty porn.
