For sales, $300k gets you a 3 BR single family house in a desirable middle class neighborhood in any one of Ohio's major cities. $300k can only get you a condo in the Bronx.

My cousin bought a cute little house in Kennedy Heights Cincinnati for around $30,000. Her mortgage was around $300 a month. I think the house is paid off now so the only thing she is paying besides utilities is property taxes at around $50 a month.
