What do you think or is your favorite supermarket in the outer boros?

I like the Shop Rite in College Point on 20th Ave. It is open till midnight. Has a huge selection of meats. They have those big prime ribs cuts. Only thing it lacks is good seafood. No one is beating the chinese in that department.

There is also the Iavarone Bros in Maspeth, but it pales compared to the Lake Success store. Too bad Queens does not have a Whole foods.

What is a good butcher in Queens? There is practically non existent around Flushing.

Outside of cultural themed stores and Dollar Tree, my favorites would have to be Western Beef, Aldi, and Food Bazaar. I like some Stop and Shops, it seems that they bought Pathmark. Food Bazaars in general tend to have more interesting items than the usual stores such as C Town and Associated, and Western Beef definitely has better prices.

When I was linked to a music studio in Mt Vernon, I used to go to the Western Beef there. I don't really purchase meat/fish outside of dry shrimps, sardines and canned small fish, and imitation crab so I'm not sure how they are on that front. I wish main stream stores would sell more than one type of bean curds because they go bad so fast, that it's not worth it to schlep it from Queens to the Bronx during the summer.

Foodtown is definitely a top store here in NYC. I also like NetCost Market and Gourmanoff (owned by Uzbeks) but sell Eastern European food and has a Buffett. The best one is in Brighton Beach Brooklyn and Fairway in Red Hook has always been a favorite of mine.

100000% Food Bazaar, aka whole foods for poor people. I would do an Irish *** (apparently the word for that specific Irish dance is censored?) if they opened one up in SI. Amazing quality and variety and crazy cheap.

Food Bazaar is a normal priced store not cheap. It's like Path Mark. It's not super expensive like Fine Fare but its not the same as Aldi or Costco either.
