2,000 Cameras Will Be Watching How You Drive in New York City
Will the nation’s largest urban network of speed cameras make the city safer or “one big speed trap?”

The result will be the nation’s largest urban network of automated speed cameras, with a nearly 10-fold increase to more than 2,000 cameras deployed in 750 areas within a quarter-mile radius of a school, effectively blanketing the city.

What do you think?

To me, first of all, I'm not sure the issue is speed. One way to slow down people is with the timing of signals.

But part of what bothers me is the incessant drive (no pun intended) to get everyone knuckling under for ever more surveillance.

another way for the city to extort money out of its taxpayers

maybe if drivers and pedestrians would take thier faces out of thier phones for a millionth of a second, there woldnt be so many accidents and people getting ran over.

pay attention people, before the speed limit is 5 MPH, I can crawl faster.....

Everyone who owns and drives a vehicle in NYC should just move out.

And yet, there were more accidents and fatalities before everyone was able to afford a cell phone ...

It's not about phones, it's about street design. And these cameras are designed to slow everyone down to the next level.

We been under surveillance for a while without even knowing it. The cellphone you carry pretty much pinpoint where you at every second of your life. I don’t see people complaining about it.

Everyone who owns or drive a vehicle in NYC should take out an anti-vehicle camera, and vote against anti-vehicle politicritters.

So many ways to do this, I think there are guides out there to mount spray paint jets on drones to black out lenses and ways to fry the internal electronics. You first though

The easiest method. And fairly cheap.
