I did the 1+ mile round trip to Dollar Tree. By the time I got home with 3 heavy bags I thought I was going to crash to the sidewalk and die there but I made it home and I wa glad I had had left the AC on. First order of business, a large glass of ice cold water.
I think my problem with heat exhaustion is primarily due to dehydration. I cannot stand drinking warm water so I don't carry a water bottle like the other 8,6 million New Yorkers.
It took a half hour before I was back to some semblance of normality.
Rest of Summer: Over 90 degrees and I am staying home except perhaps for a trip to Key Food IN MY COMPLEX.
That sounds godawful. Glad you're home safe and sound.
Checked Weather Network 11AM, real feel temp 91F because of the 75% humidity. Went to bank and library, it seemed a LOT hotter than 91. Got home about 12:30 PM and real feel temp was listed as 102F. That was more like what I felt.
This looks to be the beginning of a 6 day heat wave so the AC will be running for the next 144 hours.
ACTUAL thermometer temperature in the shade outside my window right now is 93F at 4PM with Real Feel reported on The Weather Network as 106F.
Stay indoors in AC if you can. This weather is DANGEROUS.

our office a/c isnt working too good rightnow, my desk area is 75 degrees, and i am not a happy office worker right now, but in about 6 minutes, I am out that door, like no ones business.
Beware the OUT, nightcrawler, it is like a furnace out there. God only knows what some of those subway stations are going to feel like.
fortunetely I drive to work, and my pick up is parked down by the water in sunset park....but yeah, it was hot, not even a bay breeze either.....nothing
then it took another 15 minutes for the A/C to make the truck cool, thats how hot it was.

Why don't you buy a water bottle that actually keeps things cold for awhile?
