RicanRican, Thanks for sharing. I checked my hood. These truly historical pictures predated my arrival with my family in the 1960s as a young girl. So I really cannot identify many of the landmarks. Very nostalgic and interesting, Wonder if the NYPL has archives of these neighborhoods from the 1960s. They must. Thanks again for sharing.

hundreads of pictures, of Brutal NYC

raw, gritty, everything it was.
takes a while to load pictures, but well worth it.

nightcrawler, it is a lot to get through but very worthwhile. The poverty, crime, struggles right in parts of Manhattan and elsewhere make for a sobering read. I will have to take more time to digest this. Just read a few stories. Thanks for linking us to this historical and very different era in NYC. The personal stories are also very powerful.

The Old NYC app works very well! Better than a browser.
