Are you complaining about the east side because it doesn't have more crime, disorder, and dysfunction? That seems bassackwards.

Bellevue is in the 20's. That's really not midtown.

The 20's east did have some sketchiness at one point. There was a well known hooker stroll in the 20's on Lex and Park. But I think it's been largely squeezed out by now.

However yes Kips Bay can be sketchy around Bellevue.
It's gotten better since they did the renovations and closed the mental ward but still isn't all roses.

That varies on definition , some say midtown east stop at 34th and even lower but never 42nd . Midtown’s boundary general always change some say it’s 23rd . Also Chelsea technically goes up to 34th west of 8th Avenue , and Hell’s Kitchen north of 34th west of 8th . So 23rd to 34 of Chelsea Is midtown west . But I’m not gonna argue about it , some neighborhoods aren’t clear cut . Just like the old traditional area of the lower east side includes east village/alphabet city , and two bridges but now they are all split into their own neighborhoods .
