I just read about it, and I was wondering if it was sort of like an in-person free alternative to Craigslist.

Is it fun and useful, or boring and tacky?

Is it ever in Manhattan?

I passed by and stopped into a recent one in my neighborhood in Brooklyn, it was very late in the day though (just a half an hour left) so it's hard to say tacky, looked fun though. The clothes that were there were in good shape, and there were a ton of books still there. The non-clothes/books stuff looked beat up but I think I was just looking at last dregs. I think it will depend somewhat on the neighborhood as well. Still a lot of people there though pouncing on everything. They don't take anything considered furniture.
