Cida, If you are looking for cheap and good tasting dumplings, try East Dumpling, 46 Eldridge St., right in Manhattan LES. This might be closer for you than Flushing. Price is like $4 for 10 dumplings. The scallion pancakes are supposed to be good too. Read the reviews. Great bargain price for pretty good quality dumplings.

There’s a pretty wide gamut of foods. Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay has a pretty large concentration of restaurants with a Russian clientele. Russian cuisine itself is fine, though they themselves take a shine to Georgian and Uzbek cuisine both of which I think are great and dishes from those places sometimes end up getting folded into the menus of ostensibly Russian restaurants.
