In Downtown, and Midtown Manhattan, and other gentrified areas Mom and Pop disappearing, but the outer boros still have mom and pop bodegas, laundries, restaurants, 99c stores, hardware stores, car washes.

Only clothing, sporting goods, shoe stores are in the wall street corporate domain.

The mom and pop shop era will soon be close to non existent, unless its the food industry as well as a few others.

The new generation mostly does online business, that doesn’t require a storefront. And the millennials have no desire to sit in a store all day to make sales, its considered the old school mentality.

This is true.

After all these years Cida, you mean to tell me that you live in Manhattan, yet you bemoan the lack of mom n pop stores? No wonder, you live in the least favorable climate for them!

Yeah and it does suck. Even innovative new stores can't take a foothold anymore because of the high cost to entry. If you visit Philadelphia you can see dozens and dozens of interesting small places that would have no chance of starting up in NYC
