Hello. does anyone know why the Morton Williams Supermarket on Jerome Ave by Fordham Rd in the Bronx closed?

No, but I could guess. Probably too expensive for the neighborhood.

I'm sorry to hear that they closed. MW was the one nice thing about living over there. My husband and I didn't shop there a lot. They were expensive. But if we wanted stuff that the Food Dynasty didn't have it was nice to have another option.

That's pretty much it... Of all of the places to put one, I could think of a lot of other places in the Bronx that would make sense... I didn't even know they existed in the Bronx. I use them in a pinch in Manhattan on the Upper West Side area. Prices are a bit higher than other places, but they carry hard-to-find specialty items, so it's to be expected. It's like Food Emporium, but a bit cleaner...

Isn't that MW across street from huge armory redevelopment project? Maybe with that in mind rents are going up and MW said "buh-bye".

It was a good try. I feel they would have done better near the university. I don’t understand why businesses don’t pay attention to neighborhoods before opening up stores. A market research can go a long way.
