When you live in a high-rise apartment, please explain where/when dogs go to the bathroom.

Where I currently live, you just open the door and the dog goes out to a fence yard. And the dog has to go several times in the day and then right before bed, and in the middle of the night.

Do owners use potty pads, or do they get up in the middle of the night and take their dogs out in their PJ's?

Also: Where could dog waste be disposed? Again, where I live now, if you are on a walk and your dog goes #2, you pick it up in plastic, and then dispose of it in street garbage cans - if there are none around, you take the bag home and put it in your outside trash.

The only thing I know about trash in NYC, is that people put big bags on the curbs. I am not exactly sure where apartment owners dump the trash from their homes - if there is a middle place the trash goes before it goes to the curb - but in the case of dog number two, what do you do with it day and night? You wouldn't want it in your house trash.

Thank you.

The dog takes a dump in the bed right next to the owner and they don't clean it up until the next morning.

There are garbage cans practically everywhere outside.

Some people do use those pads but many people don't.

Most buildings have a garbage chute and/or a garbage room. That is where you put your trash and then the porters will put it out for you.

When I had a dog, very rarely did he have to go out in the middle of the night---only if he wasn't feeling well. But yes if I had to take him out I was probably wearing PJs---big deal.

My dog gets 3 walks a day which is enough for her (before and after work, and about 10pm before bed). If she's not feeling well and has to go out in the middle of the night, yes, I get out of bed, get dressed, and take her down. Some people use pee pads for their dogs at home. I live in a small apartment and prefer not to.

Thank you!

Is it safe to go outside in your PJ's in the middle of the night (in most areas that are otherwise considered on the safer side)?

Probably just as safe as going out in your clothes...

Why would the presence of pajamas make it less safe?
