I purchased a house in Queens in July. We filled out all the necessary paperwork (i.e. the DEP registration form) during closing to register the water account to my name. However, to date I've not yet received any water bill.

My understanding is that water bills are sent out every 3 months, though I have no idea when each 3-month cycle ends.

Given that I closed on the property in July and it's now October, should I have received a water bill by now? In other words, did DEP send out a water bill in August or September? Or is the next one October?

Just afraid that a bill might have gotten lost in the mail or something and I wake up one day with my water turned off.

Opinion:
You are correct. It comes every couple of months as stated.
If you feel uneasy you can log in on line to monitor your water usage.
I never in over 30 years never had to worry about a bill coming to the house
or a payment making its way to its destination. Thank You United States Post Office.

Unfortunately an account number is required to register for a DEP online account, and I won't know my account number until I receive my first bill.
