On a typical night out at a restaurant I get the impression from the conversations of workers sharing time after a workday is that they are all overworked ? Is this so in your case ?

My team drives me nuts sometimes but I can honestly say that I have a good work/life balance with 5 weeks vacation plus personal/sick days. Most days, I leave work at 4:30 and may check my emails but that's it. I work for an investment bank.
When I started in the business I was afforded covering a few locations within a Borough.
Fast Forward almost 40 years I covered pretty much all of N.Y.C. ( 5 times as much ) while
my pay doubled in all that time. Somebody other than me sure saved alot of money on less
hirees and made quite a killing off of me.

They have money to go out to dinner?
Halfway joking.

Nope, years ago I found balance and realized chasing money isn't for me. Living life is what I value. I make what I need to plus extras for anything reasonable and live a great f*cking life!

It's not so much that I'm "overworked", but my job is a real time-suck.
Honestly, I could do my job, and probably do it BETTER, in 1/2 the time my boss requires I "put in" at the office. Office hours are 9-6, which, including my commute, is an 11-hour day. I could do 90% of my work remotely, at least part of the time, but the owner of my company won't allow for telecommuting. Extremely short-sighted on his part, IMO, but par for the course here.
