I've seen Deer in the North Bronx while driving along the Hutchinson River Parkway within the confines of Pelham Bay Park as well as a Groundhog in the Bronx along the Hutchinson Parkway. No Rabbits, yet.

Those are all eastern cottontail rabbits. I've seen them in Queens and the Bronx near the Bronx Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. Hares are much bigger than rabbits and their ears are much bigger too. It's pretty obvious the difference. Hares do live above ground. I don't think there are hares in NYC. There are definitely hares in upstate New York.

Fun fact: Coney Island is named for rabbits. Old English uses Coney as a word for rabbit.

I've seen a ton of wild rabbits in Van Cortland Park. You can catch them running around during early morning hours as the sun rises.

Nothing but pigeons and dogs on leashes and the occasional squirrel.

The rabbit came back again today and seems to be eating the grass which is losing its color. Anyone know what kind of food rabbits like? I already put out bird seed for the birds, I wonder if it would eat that.
