I want to go into a mattress store and try EVERYTHING without anyone speaking to me. I hate being pestered by clerks.

if it's not mattress firm, don't do it. look into casper, purple, tuft and needle too

I may not like being pestered, but in NYC you're more likely to be totally ignored.

You haven't been to Raymour and Flanigan then, the mattress sales people attach like fleas the second you walk into that department. That said, I ended up getting my mattress there because they will work with you on the price (and you should work with them to get it down) and they have next day delivery on a Sunday.
