I agree. Most of these are a little too fancy for my taste, too.

$1-2 bodega or street cart hot and cold coffee is better than all of these overpriced scams.

Dunkin Donuts, 7 Eleven, and the Fay Da should be up there.

Give me a cup of diner, bodega, or cart coffee and I'm fine. It's crushed beans and water.

Once in a while I'll go to Bluestone or Blue Bottle, but these places are pricey.

Good coffee is the one you make at home, not what some gender studies phd draws on your cup for $8.

Roughly $4.00 for a coffee... What you leave out is that these sorts of places either use organic coffee and products or roast their own products in small batches. They are more like boutique coffee shops for folks that take their coffee seriously, and each individual order is made grinding the coffee, and going through that process. It is labor intensive and worth it. Starbucks is burnt overpriced garbage and Dunkin has tons of chemicals in their coffee (Starbucks does too for that matter). It’s clear given the huge lines that people don’t mind paying a little more for better quality. I either drink quality or none at all. La Colombe is another coffee shop. Culture Espresso has not quite satisfied me for the price point. Their cookies are amazing though. Similar to what you find at Levain Bakery.

I get a coffee almost every day, and on weekends, I will treat myself to two coffees, so I would say that I spend at least $150 coffee shops a month. Gets my day off to a nice start. Never really thought about how much I spend until now, and that won’t change either.
