I live in on a private street and rarely go anywhere anymore because I don’t enjoy most of NYC anyway. If this helps ensure my pension is paid when I move out of here, I don’t care. The sheep vote for these fools and call me stupid for saying otherwise. Let them reap what they sow.
Airborneguy!! I was flying over the ocean and watching in-flight "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", and I thought of you! You MUST see the movie, you'll love it (particularly the self-defense scene with a flame-thrower!). Doesn't have anything to do with parking in NYC or this thread, but I saw you posting, so had to tell you about the movie.
"Could New York City Eliminate Free Street Parking?
Car culture has already been changed by bike and bus lanes. A transportation panel in Manhattan has floated the idea of eliminating free street parking entirely"
"No more tax-payer provided free handouts for drivers who don't want to pay for parking."
The drivers are the taxpayers. Everyone has the same rights to that parking on a first come first serve basis, yourself included. They are proposing to take that right away from you

Leftists don’t want you to have rights. They want you to have government approved permissions, with all else banned.

I agree. Funny thing, though, those "dimbulbs" don't seem to understand that THEY, too, will be subject to the draconian practices that they're pushing for. Talk about irony.....
The actual law states that any resident who's vehicle registration matches the property may legally park in front of the curb cut, but that ONLY applies to properties with a MAXIMUM of 2 households / apartments. This law gets broken all the time with people in 3 or 4 family homes who park in front of the house/building.
In practice NYPD traffic cops are lazy and don't bother looking up the registration address and matching to an X-dwelling property. They only ticket curb cut violations upon request. So if you have an annoying neighbor, you can 'request' them to get a ticket by calling 311
