According to the article, the protesters are challenging Governor Andrew Cuomo from the left: "The demonstration was called to protest Governor Cuomo’s plan to add 500 police officers to patrol the subway..."
Some of the protestors' chants included:
- "f—k the police"
- "fare free NYC"
One of the protestors was quoted as saying "“F—k cops and every racist fascist person out here. These are our neighborhoods."
This follows another anti-cop protest in Brooklyn on Nov 1, which featured banners stating, "Punch that cop. NYPD out of the MTA", "“F—k the police”, “Don’t let these pigs touch us", "NYPD KKK", "make transit free", and "take what you need."
There has been little to no backlash against these points of view. Have Mayor de Blasio or Governor Cuomo issued statements condemning such viewpoints, distancing them from the Party? Is this considered part of the Progressive movement, or not?

Reason: fix spacing
I saw a funny one. Among all the signs saying “No Fare in subways” “make subways free” some idiot group had signs saying “build more station elevators!” I know these kids are all in college, but they must be teaching some crazy new-math economics these days.
