“Since 2020 began, as of Friday at midnight, robberies are up 32.5 percent, car theft is up 61 percent and burglaries are up 18 percent compared to the same time period last year”
Also if you witness a crime be cautious to help the criminal will have all Your info.
“Prosecutors are already grappling with how to protect the privacy of victims and witnesses and are trying to figure out how they can do that under the new laws, The Post learned at a recent conference for New York State prosecutors.”
If I call 911 that results in an arrest I am curious if they will get my cell phone and the owner of that cell phones info. Might prevent people from calling to help someone in need. https://nypost.com/2020/01/24/nypd-c...0-crime-spike/
911 always sees your number even if you have blocked it. A few years ago I called 911 to report a homeless guy sleeping in the doorway of an empty store. It was 20° out. I heard the 911 operator pass my blocked cellphone number to the EMS operator. Turns out the homeless guy was o.k. and refused to be taken to the hospital.
So you see some crazy guy going on a rampage and you know if you call police that crazy guy will be on the street the next day knowing your phone number and your address.
What could go wrong with that?
How more crazy the progressives should get before people will see them for what they are - crazies.
"Since the beginning of 2020" is a pretty narrow window. It sounds more like the article is promoting an ongoing political bias, rather than dealing with truth or meaningful facts. (Perhaps robberies were 'down' 30+-percent during the final 3-weeks of December.)
My point is that much of what qualifies as 'news' or 'expert opinion' today, is little more than hyperbole designed to hype the headlines or feed into a particular bias.

Instead of going to the NY Post, why not go directly to crime stats?

This is 'mission accomplished' for the pro-criminal progressives! Robberies even up 75% on Staten Island compared to 2019, but with lower actual numbers; 14 robberies in 2020, 8 robberies in 2019.
The Bronx is off to a bad start too. Robberies up 24.6%; 223 robberies in 2020, 179 robberies in 2019.
