The NYPD has sued the CCRB which was passed by nearly 75% of voters last November that compels the police commissioner to explain his reasoning in writing whenever he departs from a disciplinary recommendation issued by the NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Trials. What do you think of this attempt to overturn something that NYrs overwhelmingly voted for?

One, it isn't the NYPD that's suing. It's the PBA (union.)

Two, something that may be illegal can get on the ballot and approved, the same way that legislation that is passed the normal way sometimes is found illegal and gets overturned.

Will this case get any traction? I'm skeptical

No different than the unconstitutional gun laws passed all over the country. Don’t like the law? Change it, the right way. Not the easy way.

Lynch is right.

Either way it seems to be sending a message to cops to do just what’s required of them. Why do anything for a city that doesn’t care about you ? Go to 911 calls safely do some paper work and go home. EasY though

Look at today’s youth in nyc. Why even bother ? Imagine they arrested this girl and there was video of her acting like this with them? Ccrb can judge them?

There's already a program in place to deal with kids like this or act in a criminal manner by the NYPD. School yard fights have been normal for decades across the world.

Opinion:
Growing up I thought this was all normal.
My old man R.I.P. told me to hit back twice for
every time someone throws one punch at you
even if it means getting beat up. The bully finds
no fun in those who defend them selves. He was
dead to right. The bully would go onto bother somebody
else.

Shocking, cops wanting less oversight. They can "police themselves", they say.

That's worked out great here in Suffolk, or anywhere for that matter.

Pampering thugs never worked and it never will. The long hot bus ride to Rikers is the best thing for them.

'Defense attorney Mark Fonte called the measures “proactive,” adding that the approach “is to be applauded and embraced by all concerned.'

That's all I need to hear about this nonsense. If a defense attorney supports this policy, it can't be good for the taxpaying public.
