I am trying to understand what the shelter in place might be for people who have jobs to get to that are continuing. For example pilots going to the airports (or any public transportation related jobs) or specialist doctors (and their patients who have office appointments) or people who work supermarkets/pharmacies, etc. Will they be able to continue to work on as usual?
Perhaps. However, be surprised for lots of acts of love. If not love acts of kindness as well.
Why would that surprise me? Or, more appropriately, why do you think that would surprise me?
You are making a giant assumption about me in regards to what "prepping" means about one's mindset.
I don't plan to explain further to assuage your assumptions because I feel that my last post sufficiently explained why I take a precautionary mindset when it comes to societal events outside of the normal course of things. It is not "hopeful and empathetic" (so to speak) to enter a situation like this wholly unprepared to face possible negative outcomes we may experience, it is stupid. Conversely, doing the opposite doesn't mean one is drooling with evil intentions.
Quite frankly, you just don't get the military mindset.

I certainly hope so. Unfortunately, we, as a society, are FAR BEYOND the days of being able to simply go out into our back yards and pick a couple of ears of corn, and a tomato or two, for our supper.....

I don't get the military mindset. I think your a nice guy. Don't read too much into what I am saying. I just try to be very positive. People on this board have already posted things like they expect to see marauding teenage savages and worse. So my response is more tied to voices like that. People here, some of them are on good days almost unhinged. Positivity needs to be asserted and where I saw the word hate, I had to introduce it's opposite. No offense to you
Hopefully they restructure the benefits agreement to have workers pay more into their retirement plans and the like. We can't keep affording to pay the MTA workers as we do.
They’re not going to restructure their benefits. This economic crisis caused by Coronavirus has destroyed right wing ideology. As a part of a 850 billion stimulus plan Trump proposes 250 billion directly to Americans.
By Trumo himself we’ve just seen a huge expansion of social services. Now counting the 1.5 trillion used to try to prop up Wall Street.

The right wing will take the money and not even see it as socialism at work. They won't even think it's just as Bernie Sanders would have proposes. They won't go the next step to have universal health care because that is socialism. They don't make the connect the dot logic you would think.
