Yes, probably so. The last I heard, these were non-violent offenders in jail for not paying fines, etc. Hopefully, they do have family to return to.

Mayor D. broke it down yesterday:

They're releasing prisoners who fall under this criteria:

case-by-case:

- non-violent criminals
- committed only a misdemeanor
- their jail sentence is UNDER 1 year
- ones that are being released "within a few weeks"

i wasn't taking notes...but he did mention he's not about to let violent vinny back out onto the streets....

.....considering his affection for 'bail reform..'

Yea, that and the steady movement of NYC's buses from diesel to ultra-low emissions vehicles, and recently, to battery-electric vehicles.

NYC's air quality was recently rated at 25

They use a scale from 0 to 500

Anything 50 and under is clean air

Rockaways cleanest air in NYC.

This city had a lot of hospitals back in the day

And most of them closed

We used to take better care of our mentally ill and physically sick

What a shame!

Yes. But now the Javitz is being turned into a hospital. Some underutilized city buildings are being turned into hospitals. And college dorms and hotels will also be converted.

From 20,000 the city lost 20000 hospital beds, including for both physical and mental illness. More mental hospitals closed in the early 80s.
