A New York pharmacist is under federal investigation for allegedly price-gouging N95 masks during the Caronavirus pandemic, according to a federal search warrant.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents and New York Police Department detectives recently seized 6,500 N95 masks from Richard Schirripa's Madison Avenue and Long Island residences.
Schirripa had been selling N95 respirator masks, an in-demand piece of personal protective equipment, at a markup, according to court records.
I keep hearing how hard it is too get tested in New York City and in Buffalo, first hand stories about how hard it is to get a test. It seems like to get tested you have have severe symptoms breathing difficultly and go to the hospital.
Some people stay home and some die at home, this hideous thing
While we're getting out of local territory here, I think I know what the Chinese government is trying to do.
They've seen the chaos and disruption the virus is wreaking here and in Europe, and want to get their economy fully spun up to take advantage of the opportunities to use their production to exert economic control over the rest of the world (that is not being productive.) If this means breaking their anti-virus policies, and potentially taking a lot of casualties as a result, they don't care. They have 1.4 BILLION people, If a million or ten die, it's acceptable losses, as long as the rest of the world doesn't (credibly) find out about it. This ties back to what I said above about them putting on a front about controlling the virus, and being able to control any news getting out about it, as opposed to actually controlling the pandemic.

I think a more salient point as it applies to here is that there are other countries, democratic countries, that have free presses that aren’t sycophantic to leadership and can be openly critical and that there is transparency in its actions. There is no need to envy the CCP whatsoever. As a democratic and free country, or any country, can use the lockdowns to get control over community spread with unknown vectors, and then after the oxygen’s been deprived from that community spread, rational policies on loosening restrictions and having readily available testing to track future flareups can lead to a pragmatic reopening of more sectors of the economy. That’s policy not exclusive to the CCP at all.
I would like to put this out as a poll, but having to cram anything even vaguely related to Covid-19 into one overloaded thread, I stuff this in here.
If you live in NYC, or were planning to move to NYC before the pandemic hit, has it caused you want to permanently move out, or change your mind about moving in?

Seems to me they were playing a dangerous sloppy game of messing with wild viruses, it got out, they tried to cover it up and when that didn't work they blamed wet markets and shut down the country until they could lie about having stopped the threat and quietly buried 100,000 bodies
