NYC wont be the same again....

Modells over saturated their stores with BS clothing, the off brands.

Back in the days, big yank and Levi's filled the shelves, along with the other staples, like champion sweats thermals, socks.even the sneakers were a better deal, off season or discounted real deal kicks, at a lower price. Modells had all team hats too.

Something went wrong along the way. But damn, the end of modells

Created in-house brands (think Gymshark), invested more in social media, had some sort of brand ambassador program,
Now that’s what I call Monday morning quarterbacking from a wise guy. Now I need to read something interesting before I puke rofl. Sorry

Actually that's not a bad idea, having their own sportwear brand

It's a shame, I was just able to get a good number of items from there, better sized and better quality compared to what the neighboring stores were offering. But yes, the number of stores closing down, including some branches of CVS, Walgreens, or just the mom and pop stores, is surprising.

I'll remember Modell's as the store where I got my first pair of rollerblades back in the 90s. And most of my sportswear tbh, but also back in the late 90s- early 00s.

I got my first weight lifting bench and free weights there. My dad bought me gear and sports equipment from them. Loved that they had weights, bats, balls, and clothing. Lots of stuff. I swim got my goggles and caps as well as bike helmets. Online shopping did not match it.
