I know we have the corona virus thread, But I thought I'd be fun to have an exercising thread for NY-ers who go out on their solo walk/runs/bike rides.
I'm a runner/walker who lives in the Bronx. But normally don't spend much time here due to work and life. Everyday I take a new route when I'm out on my solo exercise. I'd say by the end of this I will know the whole bronx.
Anyone want to share what roues they take or interesting finds they have come to find.

I go for walks on the trails at Orchard Beach. Very beautiful. You can also bike or walk shore road from City Island into New Rochelle. In the West Bronx you can walk the various trails in Van Courtlandt Park. If you specified your area I can give you some further locations.

There is a greenway/bike trail that goes from Riverdale thru Van Cortlant Park then down Mosholu Parkway and across Bronx Park to Pelham Parkway and then across to Pelham Bay Park/Orchard Beach.
It's about 15 miles . Plenty of room to bike it, hike it or run it. https://bikeitorhikeit.org/mosholu_pelham_greenway.htm
As I did before the Coronavirus outbreak, usually I simply go outside, pick a direction and start walking and I vary the route by going along different blocks. Another occasional option is to walk about 15 minutes in order to reach one of the footbridges over Grand Central Parkway in order to take walk in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and returning using one of other footbridges (including over the LIE) further away and then walking back a completely different route.
bxlover---Is the parking area for Orchard Beach still closed? In that case, one would have to start elsewhere and walk over.

That is what we do. We just pick a direction and start walking.

It's open. The barriers for the paid parking entrance is stupidly in place. You enter thru where you would otherwise depart. Unless you refer to the day a few weeks ago when the beach was closed by police. That seemed to have been for a short term reason

I'm in the south Bronx. I'm a distance runner though so I will easily do 10-12 miles round trip.
I'd say my best find this far has been Sound View Park. It's beautiful, you feel like your upstate when you walk the trails. Only thing that sucks is getting to and from there is not so desirable. Sadly most of the Bronx to get somewhere nice like Van Cortlandt Park or Central Park are not desirable.
