You went through the academy then? Wow, that is amazing that you went through all that hard work and graduated but didn't stay. I guess you didn't think it was your calling? Well, at least you realized early enough.

bbguy05,

No one is personally attacking you here. You have made comments that were offensive to other people. If you chose not become a police officer for whatever reasons, that is your business. But, there are people who chose a career to protect YOU from harm and I think alittle respect is warranted.

I should have explained myself further, I never applied to become a cop. My training was more with a "youth academy" type thing where we trained along side of actual cops and learn what they do. I never had any interest in being a cop.

Like many have mentioned, it's all about one's personal experience with cops. I have been on both sides and have seen both sides. There is more abuse of power and corruption in the police force, than there is actual good. Again, it's all about ones personal experience.

In a perfect world, the police are the good guys and they should be trusted, and everything they do is fair and just. But in reality, that's far from the truth. Yes there are few cops who actually fall into the "perfect world" category somewhat, but MOST of them don't. It's all about the revenue for the city they work for, and the quotas they need to make.

bbguy05,

If a crime was being committed against you or your family, who would you call then? Clearly, you wouldn't call 911 because you don't trust them. Maybe you should take matters into your own hands and handle the situation. You brave soul you.

BBguy05...you have said nothing that is eve remotely offensive in your comments. These 2 posters believe anything said that has any inkling that cops are not angels and kings is treated as an anti-cop tirade. Pay no mind to them...it is OKAY to disagree with these 23 posters..as they are illogically pro-cop about everything.

The fact remains, that nobody was there yet everyone has an opinion that they claim is right. Anyone that asserts otherwise is just talking nonsense..so your opinion is as good as anyone else's. Keep up the good work!

Guy,

Stop attacking me with your posts. I never said anything negative to BB. BTW, to anyone reading this, being Pro-cop is not such a bad thing. The sad thing is that it is usually the anti-cop ranters who constantly utilize their services. Especially the 3rd generation Bronx-type, but I'm not talking about anyone specifically. However, since you are so good with your advice, why don't you advise him how on to get a great deal on a house?

You are going to kill yet another thread by going off topic. Just a heads up...

BBguy...I agree with you that ufnortunately the ones policing the police force...is the police force! That's a HUGE problem in and of itself...it would be nice to have an independent branch open that works in conjunction with the police force to keep them on their toes.

And yes absolute power corrupts absolutely, and many that have had interactions with the police in this city can attest to the arrogance, negativity, and hostility they show to the public outside of areas that are wealthy and or touristy. Noentheless, in general, I think they do as good a job as can be expected considering they deal with the worst of the worst of society on a daily basis. I would be crabby and angry too if I had to deal with these types all day and then go to the office and deal with similarly hostile/negative colleagues.

It is not doubt a tough job...I am glad we have a decent police force, however, and I applaud them for their work. However, progress still needs to be made..and the police force is far better today than it has been in the last 40 years.

Guy,

Stop crying already! YOUR posts caused all of this animosity so if you can't take it, stay off the boards and stop having the threads closed down for the rest of us. You want to say what you want to say and expect everyone to sit back at listen to your bs. Well, that's not going to happen. Get over it.

I say again..let's stick to topic because they will close the thread when you do personal attacks/go off topic. How many more times does this need to be said?

Stay on topic.

Once again, as Guy said everyone, stay on topic.

I said nothing to BB that was an attack of any kind.

Yet, SOMEONE tried to stir the pot and use EMOTIONAL RHETORIC.

Funny how if opinions agree with someone in particular, that poster will say to keep up the good work. God forbid you disagree with him though...then you must stay on topic, stop attacking, or he'll contact the mediator to stop the thread b/c you've hit a sore spot.

Also funny how once another thread ws closed, someone jumped right over here and continued the thread. Oddly enough, it was after he had the other thread shut down.
So, PLEASE stay on topic.

I have a feeling the next post will be from someone who, whenever is confronted, will say...stay on topic!!
