In my country, Canada, the gov declared that no one will be evicted while covid sanctions exist.

Best of luck, friend.

I feel sorry for those landlords, I hope they offer them a stimulus check for the amount of bills they have to pay.

I'm sure the big corps will get a bailout and hope the tenants leave so they can take them off market. Luckily I sold my rental last year at the height. I am just tired of dealing with tenants around NYC/NJ. Most tenants around the area all knows how to play the system. Good responsible tenants are hard to find, I ran credit checks frequently for apt applications and they avg around 620. Some as low as 560. I only had 2 apps recently that had Credit Score of 700+ even with a good economy.

Obviously unemployed people they aren’t generating positive tax revenue for the state either.

1. Should landlords have the right to stop paying for utilities? Would tenants be okay if all water and electricity were shut off, because landlords couldn't afford to pay?

2. Aren't unemployed tenants collecting unemployment benefits? Plus an additional $600 a week from the CARES Act on top of that? Plus there are food stamps, welfare, medicaid, SSI, and all sorts of entitlements.

These entitlements exist so people can afford food and rent. So if these suddenly unemployed tenants are collecting entitlements (they'd certainly be eligible), how is it that they can't afford the rent?
If they are receiving it they should continue to pay. That pre-supposes they were eligible for it in the first place and the unemployment system was able to process the claim in a timely manner.

It's a problem that people have such low credit because they over spend. Credit cards are fine, if you use them and can pay them off each month. But if you can't, you have no business using them. I don't now why people can't understand you don't spend what you can not afford.
I make 30k a year. Which isn't a lot in this city but I have no debt, credit score of 800 and enough in savings to last me a year. It's plenty of money for me to be honest. After rent and bills, I can afford to still have enough money for whatever it is I want and need to spend on.

You may avoid getting evicted for now, but the day of reckoning will come. And it will become even harder to find a new rental, with an eviction on your record. Pay the retn with the unemployment & stimulus check.
