Very LOL!

Another WSJ article about fleeing NYC

Quote:
Ross Sapir’s customers are clear when they call to hire a moving van: They are leaving New York City because of the coronavirus crisis and they aren’t sure when, or if, they are returning.

Mr. Sapir, president of Roadway Moving, said his storage business is booming as people with the motivation and means flee the epicenter of the pandemic, which had killed nearly 11,000 in New York City as of Saturday. Many clients are leaving before figuring out where they are going and want movers to go into their now-uninhabited apartments, pack everything up and put it in storage.

“It’s a great opportunity for us,” said Mr. Sapir, adding that his company’s 110,000-square-feet of storage space is nearly full. “But I’m not sure how it’s going to affect the city, economy-wise.”
and more:

Quote:
For Jaime Hochhauser, the coronavirus pandemic feels like the beginning of her leaving New York story. Ms. Hochhauser, who owns the household-staffing business HomeFront Lifestyle Staffing and lives in Forest Hills Gardens, Queens, fled with her husband and children to live with her in-laws in the Hamptons.

Ms. Hochhauser said she doesn’t see her family going back to New York City for at least a year. She spent an afternoon researching moving and storage companies.

“I don’t feel it’s a healthy environment to raise children in right now,” she said. “I don’t know if I’ll ever feel comfortable getting on the subway again.”

So the very wealthy Hampton summer people are leaving, doesn't say if the middle class is.

The crazy thing is that New York City folks think they need to buy tiny houses, or buy a 100-year-old farmhouse in the country, when you could buy decent housing stock (or rent a home or a nice apartment) in any small city in NY or PA or NJ.

I hate statements like this. This “crazy thing” you just attributed to all of us is a figment of your imagination.

What regions are you considering moving to?

Too much to explain here, depends when we decide to go. If I can continue to stomach NYS politics, I may move to my favorite place in the world, the Adirondacks. Otherwise PA is high on the list.

Technically everyone on this thread including the other threads are assuming. Do you normally just accuse people who disagree with you as assuming people?

People who often brag about low taxes are often the biggest beggars of services and live in places where the poverty levels are at horrible levels because of low taxes.

Sort of like the Kentucky governor speaking on New York while his state is literally a state on federal welfare.

I’m all about high taxes if it goes to where it needs to go and provides services to the less fortunate.

These same “low” tax supporters will often go on to brag about the services Europeans and Canadians also receive. Ironically high taxed countries.
