As far as I understand there is a statewide stay-at-home executive order put in place by Governor Cuomo until May 15th. So Mayor DiBlasio can't open up small businesses or anything else freely until after that order expires.

So the pause order expires May 15...does anyone know what kind of businesses will be allowed to open besides construction?

This correct. The Gov laid out a phased plan for reopening also. Construction first, retail and services etc.

Anyone care to do the percentage equivalent of those numbers? Math isn't quite my strongest quality. Now compare those numbers to cancer, diabetes, suicide, drug od numbers and tell me what you find? You can't because everyone who's died in the past three months has died of corona. Cancer - cured! Diabetes - cured! Everyone's happy and nobody's doing drugs! Utopia!

New Yorkers have disgusted me throughout this whole ordeal. You are an extremely obedient bunch. Like leading lambs to slaughter. The problem is you don't really have any rights to take away like the tyrannical governors have taken in Virginia, Michigan and Maine. And you and the democrats you've voted for love our current socialistic state - lead by Trump no less. Oh the irony! You'll drag your sick communistic paradise out for as long as you can. But keep patting yourselves on the back while clapping at 7pm. Your cheering is really making a difference.
No one could have predicted the pandemic and it certainly isn't a scheme to make Trump look bad. Trump needs absolutely no help from anyone to look bad as it really is the only thing he is competent at.

Of course many people die every day from all kinds of things, but are all of those people completely overwhelming the health care system like the Covid victims have? Have all of those other afflictions overwhelmed morgues to the point where the dead are being buried in mass graves and placed in refrigerated trucks? The emergency rooms in the city were bursting at the seams a few weeks ago to the point where patients were being actually *discouraged* from visiting a hospital. As a result, thousands more died at home.

The New Yorkers who have followed the guidelines actually care about others and realize that their actions save lives.

NYC would probably be close to reopening by now if, at the beginning of the crisis Trump hadn't claimed it was a hoax and delayed a coordinated response. It's funny how you accuse others of being lambs--but that's exactly your mentality.

Deblasio was telling me if I don't grab Chinese food I'm racist and the health commissioner was saying masks are for idiots. I was just obeying their orders. If that makes me a lamb than so be it! Anything to flatten the curve! (Rolls eyes)

Small business is suffering but hes still getting a check, and he just sat up there, smiled and said more needs to be done.

can someone tell me what on gods green earth needs to be done to open up the city? everyones wearing masks and following social distancing already the USS comfort left, the javits center is closed down, the hospitals are empty and we are past 14 days of decline!

He seems more interested in having police abuse NYC residents then actually getting the city up and running again. That should worry small business owners.
You are such a clueless millennial. It is because of the lock down in place that kept the infection at this current rate which is still the highest in the world. There's nothing to brag about this. NYers are bunch of spoiled urban kids that can't learn to stay put.

The minute DeBlasio let the cage open, it'll become zombie city. It is because of NYers the spread of the virus hit every other city, this is the gateway where the virus came through in addition to Seattle. The two ground zero.

If yall decide to run out and start disobeying the rules all that lockdown went for nothing.

Easy to be the Monday morning quarterback and blame the orange man for everything. Trump is not an virus expert. Fauci himself said that Trump took his recommendation at every step. Just imagine how unprecedented the thought of shutting down the economy was 2 months ago. Also would have been nice if China (you know reason why the rest of world has had so many deaths) had let everyone else know the true reality of the virus.

With King Cuomo's plan, we won't be open until Labor Day. Ridiculous.
