It's vastly more subject. You need to get personal references. And I'm pretty sure they can deny you for minor infractions, and arrests that didn't result in convictions.

The process should be a minimal fee (<$50), and can only be denied for felony convictions or a judicial finding of mental incompetence. There should not be any personal discretion by the reviews on whether a permit (any permit, included concealed carry) should be denied.

the guns must be safeguarded if you die .. someone needs to turn them in or get them added to their own permit ... it makes sense .

what does not make sense is in other areas to get a carry you need 3 letters of reference from people who live in the jurisdiction .. when you move somewhere and dont know 3 people yet who will do this ?

if you have a gun and no permit it is a crime regardless how it came in to your hands . it could fall on your head from the sky and it is what it is , an illegal gun

the problem is this is the system we have here and so far no one has even budged the restrictions , they only have gotten greater in my 25 years of dealing with it

It would have to be done by the courts or federal law. If the courts are going to do it, if the Republicans get the WH and both houses of congress, they should pass a law, justified under the 2nd Amendment, eliminating all state and local gun laws.

Like I said, I doubt that is happening in our lifetime ..courts have only upheld the restrictions put on us in their decision.

An example is we had back when I started a target hunting Permit . It was actually a carry permit . It was restricted to target hunting by your equest .

They gave you a box on the application to check as to why you want a permit ...if you did not check the target hunting box as your reason you got nothing .

In the eyes of the state it was still a carry permit .

We all carried since if you got caught it was only an administrative violation .

They would take your permit for misuse

So they ended up switching us to premise permits ...now in the eyes of the state carrying has charges .....

The nypd gives you a permission slip to be off premise to hunt or go to a range ....it was argued in case after case the fact this is not legal ...other jurisdictions can arrest a hunter ..... courts were just fine with it
