This could get interesting. A conservative Democrat is the closest thing the south Bronx can ever get to a full blown Conservative Republican.

He's got my vote, he's always been consistent and has always been in the communities, approachable, giving. He's controversial but he gets things done. We need some conservatism in the Bronx.

That's funny you should say that. Some don't distinguish between a conservative democrat and a conservative republican. I personally see them as the same.

I know a great deal of Reuben Diaz. I am going to enjoy seeing continued Democrat in-fighting. Note, I wonder if Diaz would even be a reliable vote for a Democrat as House Speaker. If not, you could essentially count any victory by him as decreasing the Dem majority by one and increasing the potential for a GOP House takeover.

In what way? A conservative Democrat by mainstream measures is usually conservative on one or two social issues. They tend to come home to the Democrat party line on most of the rest of the issues.

And that's the problem. Same with republicans. It all goes back to the same corrupt two-party system. The people in Congress I think of as progressive align themselves with democrats BUT in other countries would be a party onto themselves. I guess I see a conservative democrat as the same as the others but progressive (not neo liberal) ones as separate. An example would be Biden and AOC. It's not just in terms of economics but other issues.

He also has a good chance of winning for two reasons, he is the namesake of his very popular son and will have a (D) next to his name, so confused voters will probably pull the lever for him, and voter suppression doesn't matter in a district that votes 97% democrat anyway.

I am sure he will have his fans here on city-data, he hates *****, talks to imaginary people, and he's a misogynist. Party line.

Everyone and their mother is running for that seat ever since current incumbent announced his retirement. Mostly you have a group of term limited city council members looking around for a new job post 2022 since they cannot run again in 2021

Richie Torres has been fighting hard to stay in and win the primary race, but it is an uphill battle against the Diaz machine.
