In a regular day (or should I say night) every jewelry store removes everything from their windows and counters and place it in a safe. Especially before the lockdown , they all removed their merchandise.
Now somebody explains to me by which type of magic that particular night everything was available for all to see and grab??
Insurance money? Like the buildings in The South Bronx in the bad old days?

Exactly as I was thinking. Sounds fishy

The Rolex corporation probably left the watches there for the looters to show their solidarity with the “oppressed” in their struggle against “white supremacy.”

Very dumb comment.

It’s more like, knowing the lockdown exposes many unattended stores to looting in the first place, like all these businesses that were ALREADY boarding up their stores in March, they just baited anyone to trigger that insurance money, extremely convenient after almost two months of lockdown and phenomenal losses.

You sound like you know nothing about high end watches. Rolex are cosc certified and accurate to within 4 seconds a day.
I bought a Rolex, wore it for 3 years and sold it for $5k more than I bought it for.

Much of this is organized crime; people know where they are going and what to take.

Furs, prescription drugs, etc....

Obviously many places didn't get that memo about locking up jewelry when closed.

Macy's in Brooklyn got hit for 30k worth of jewelry. Same thugs also apparently hit a CVS on Chelsea/Hell's Kitchen area; they mostly got cases of water, guess being a thug and busting into places makes guys thirsty.

If you buy a Rolex, better also buy a "watch winder." If you don't wear the Rolex and/or move your arms a lot, the self winding mechanism will not function properly and the watch will lose accuracy.
