Do you have a driveway or garage for your car? If not first be sure to figure out what on-street parking is like near your home/apartment. Ask car-owning neighbors. I'd look at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai and Kia. Good luck!

This is so odd.

You have two threads on the same subject made within an hour of each other ????

This and https://www.city-data.com/forum/new-...ealership.html

No you can not purchase a car in someone else name. You can't put a title in another person's name. You can't sign loan/lease/bill of sale for another person. You can not purchase car insurance for another person.

Besides which you are located in NYC - where DMV are closed. You can't register or get plates for a car now.

I just recently managed to sell junk car. Until I think about buying a new car, I like a taxi most.

you can't buy cars from other people anymore, the DMV won't give you plates and the cops will not let it slide

Go somewhere less likely to have the car lot looted to buy car, and then leave far away from looters.

Or do you think you will get a great discount and a looted car dealership.

Why not use Uber or if you only drive on the weekend, why not rent one for cheap. Use Turo.

It makes no sense for people to own cars in NYC without their own parking spot.

The cost of car ownership is high in NYC, you will spend a lot of time looking for parking every other night and you end up calling for uber and leaving the car in the parking spot.

Not to mention having a good car will just end up getting scratched up or dented from leaving a car on the streets.
