Another casualty.

The ripple effects of Broadway's shutdown
Broadway, of course, is a summit for theatermakers, a symbol of New York and a big business that, until now, had been enjoying an extended boom. Last year was the best attended on record, with 14.6 million patrons; Broadway shows collectively grossed $1.8 billion.
"Pretty much everyone I know is planning on not paying their rent because how are we expected to do that?” said Cameron Rasmussen, one of the show’s three guitarists.

I hate when people say we are on pause. Life isnt standing still. We aren't on pause, life is moving on. Broadway isn't on pause... its shut down and the time its shut down isnt comin back. Its just gone.

No its not exactly what is happening. Time doesn't stand still. It's not like pausing a movie and it picks right back up where you left off. Time has moved on.

I think that for most people, it's reasonable to say that although time is still moving forward, millions of people feel as if their lives are on hold. At the same time, it's possible that some of what is on hold will come to life again - including maybe Broadway shows.

Considering how expensive tickets are and how you usually see old white people here, who cares? Most New Yorkers never see a "Broadway" show. Too expensive and of no interest to the underserved.

(See thread on cancelled Met Opera for references)

More unemployed. Every law abiding taxpayer should care. Last thing anyone should wish is more people/corporations sucking off the government teet.

They'll all be re-employed once restaurants open.
