Absolutely. You would also hear about it non stop all day, every day, every hour, on all the major news networks. You would also hear about them creating a "hate crime task force" and you can be sure the names of the perps would be listed all over. They would be relentless until they caught them and then they'd give them the maximum sentence possible if convicted (and the conviction would be guaranteed due to the media) since now we have trial by media instead of trial by jury.
We used to laugh at the "third world" for doing things like this. Well, we are now identical to a banana republic in that regard. Moving forward, only politics will determine if there is a prosecution or not.
